Survival of the fittest...

For the first time in my life i feel ashamed of myself for being a post Graduation student,as a girl,as a malayalee. Now i am cursing myself for my 35days of internshp making useless without contributing anything to my team. There is no guarantee that you get a warm welcome always.Survival of the fittest Is the theory i learned.those who have the capacity to grab the opportunities they will will be the ultimate winners.

To me newspaper industry is a Roman Collosium where all interns are mere Gladiators who fight amongst themselves, with colleagues for their survival and existence. As a gladiator i failed myself to be fittest to the position.A gladiator has no other option to fight until death.Me as a journalist is a gladiator who is fighting hard for existence. My mission never ends until i taste a success.

2 days more...

The last two days in express office little bit tensed, worried but thinking of my native place makes me happy enough. It is only this internship make me confident enough to go in any part of the world alone and to talk to anyone around me.My next internship will not be like this ,i will be active enough ,if possible i will select the same place.Action should speak louder than words. In my condition neither action nor word speak louder.Any way its only the loneliness inspires me to write in blog.

count down begins!

The last 10 crucial days of my internship.Little nervous, little tensed but whenever i think of my home happiness overflows from my heart.I am going to meet them after a long 35 days. One month all alone in such a big metropolitan city is equal to spending some time in jail. Now i am familiar with all almost all places nearby.I know some popular hotels, schools, gallery's,exhibition centers, malls and so on.Quiet happy with my experience.Any way at some point of time i feel that I'm going to miss Bangalore,my hostel and my daily walk.

PG Hostels in the Silicon Valley

Vasanth nagar,a place that offers plethora of PG hostels to anyone who is ready to spend around Rs.4000/month.Saraswati Nilayam is one such near express. It is my 20 th day in the PG hostel which is a MiniIndia with Manipuris, kannadigas, teleghugites, konjinis, biharis, and of course malayalees .Jayamma ,Suresh and Raja are the central figures without which the PG inmates can't eat such delicious food.As an Indian its the first time to hear Hindi from 90% of the inmates staying.sorry to India and to the law as i don't know to utter a single sentence in Hindi. To have a building in the IT hub is of course profitable than be a part of an IT firm.If you wish to be an entrepreneur start a PG hostel in the IT Hub.

My experience with Indian Express

Coming from a place like kerala with all the inhibitions to talk in English made me to sit in one of the corners of the express from the date i joined in express as an intern till the 19th day of my internship.Coming to such a big IT hub my expectation was also high.Getting inspired from my near by friends and family i stepped into the express.Apart from me there are eight interns working over here. All are smart;confident enough to talk in any language and make use of their opportunity by talking to the expresso team, chatting, blogging with friends and so on.I wait as if some one will ask me something about me and the works we interns supposed to do.No one came and no assignments so far.It takes them 12 days to realize that i am an intern who should work for the team.Meanwhile the head of feature session talked with me and asked me to come up with a story idea on the very next time.I was clueless for a moment!no idea of any place expect the route from office to my PG hostel in vasanth nagar.I went straight to a nearby traffic man and asked about the auto-drivers excess demand and about fine,rules,regulation......and then went straight to shivajinagar traffic police commissioners office.Make a casual talk with him and returned to my hostel.

my experience never ends....will continue.

"Namma MTR"

If you wish to make every meal as the best meal, to feel the subtle flavors inherent in southern dishes, to have uncompromising food quality and cleanliness, to get a feeling of community neighborhood cafe; then don’t waste your precious time. Be at Mavalli Tiffins Room (commonly known as MTR) a pure vegetarian cuisine, pride for Bangalore for over 86 successful years situated at Lalbagh that serves typical South Indian breakfast to thousands of people every day. Started in the year 1924 by two brothers Yajnanarayana Maiya and Ganappayya Maiya as “Brahmins Coffee House” later changed its name to MTR when it was shifted to a wider premises in 1960.MTR is the first restaurant that introduced sterilization of kitchen items and takes up a bold risk with responsibility by introducing the system of opening up kitchen to the scrutiny of any customer interested. During its initial years its entrance was through kitchen. MTR at any point of time was not read to make compromise on its quality. The evidence is clearly depicted during emergency rule 1976 when the Government forced all restaurants to reduce the price; MTR closed down the shop bravely as they don’t want to compromise quality with any substitute. It also adds to its credit by inventing “ravaidli” when they face severe rice shortage .MTR was featured by Discovery Channel in series named “Globe Trekker”. People flock from different parts of the city waits in queue for tasting the delicious idlis, dosas and hot tea. It is also a safe zone for the morning joggers, tourists and pedestrians. It is also one of the leading purveyors of packaged foods. Now MTR becomes city’s popular eating spot. If you are a true connoisseur of food and is ready to sacrifice anything except quality then move to “Namma MTR”.

Beware !Silence: a killer within you.

Don't be silent ever in your life?if you are silent your opportunities will be grabbed away.Don't think of what you are going to say,do it,you can.Experience is the best teacher. It can teach you lessons with joy and sorrow. The one and Only post graduate intern in the Great New Indian Express office wasting her valuable time. It's only the smartness that counts with the journalism profession. It's takes me long fourteen days to open my mouth which keeps me away from all.To be left alone pains a lot.May be pioneers in this field may face the same fate as of mine. It's not the industries mistake. It's my mistake, the mistake of a typical keralite.

A phone from mom reduce stress of daughters

Feeling like there are too many pressures on you?losing sleep worrying about exam results and test papers. No need to worry make a call to your mom you will be relieved from all your stress. When you talks with your mother the hormone oxytocin promotes bonding between mother and child and has long been associated with close physical contact, said by scientists from the University of Wisconsin Madison recently. They conducted the research among girl childrens of age 6-12 years where they are given to solve maths question and to speak before strangers. The stressed children are then divided into three groups and asked the first to talk to their mom in phone, second through the phone provided by the researchers and rest were asked to watch an emotionally neutral movie for 75 minutes. The results find interesting where the stress of the first group reduced comparitively faster than the other two groups.as AGATHA CHRISTIE once said

"A mother's love for her child is like
nothing else in the world. It knows no
law,no pity,it dares all things and crushes
down remoselessly all that stands in its path."

Think before you hack of hack without thinking?

Internet was considered as one of the great innovations of this century which makes world into a 'Global Village'.Now the invention id being used as an instrument for sending threats to the users.Cyber threats in our country is looming large.Recession made the computer literate criminals to the electronic scams. In an era where everything from kitchen utensils to nuclear power plants runs on computers cyber crime has to be treated with prior importance. It has got the power to crack the country down. Now computers turned to be a free zone and safe heaven for cyber criminals.India has so far enacted Information and Technology Act(2000)and Information and Technology Act (2008) in which all laws are bailable. The use of internet even by school childrens, kids ,teenagers reinforce the goverment to ensure security.
WHAT IS RIGHT IN OUR CULTURE MAY NOT BE SAME IN OTHER CULTURE.Same happens here when the ITA is a global act.Its high time for the govt and the authorities responsible to take action so that India can be a better India in the nearbye future.
A common scene continuing still in the silicon valley, the IT Bangalore. It's is on it's way to celebrate the third anniversary from october2,2008 the date in which karnataka government banned smoking in public places.what changes had happened from the date of banning?what happens to the 200 rs fine? It's now a common scene to the bangaloreans to see people;including students, women and children smoking in public places where the authorities gives a passive permission to the smokers to continue their job.Who is the real culprit behind this;the government or the people.do ordinary people have a role to play in this drama?of course yes;if they don't then who?

This is my tenth day with 'NIE' where i couldn't contribute anything for my paper.Being a part of such a big industry makes me feel proud;at the same time missing my vactaion,my family
Avoidance plays a role in my life...to be left alone..to be isolated.my hearts never give up before anything.i expect better days in my internship days.25 days are left before me.It's enough for me to catch up.
Being a part of the hectic life of journalist is tough for me as a beginner.better exposure can make a journalist confident enough to get successful in one's profession.I am enjoying the beautiful experience that i am getting from The New Indian Express,Bangalore;at the same time leaving apart my bitter experiences with a positive attitude. If i can,t be a highway i will try to be a trail,if i can,t be the sun ,i will try to be a star,It isn't by size that you win or loss, but be the best of whoever you are.Bye for the day...
